Pop superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, and controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse (Verydarkman) have officially severed ties online, unfollowing each other on Instagram as their high-profile public rift deepens.
The mutual unfollowing follows a breakdown in behind-the-scenes peace mediation efforts reportedly led by Verydarkman’s close associate, Kokopee.
A check on Davido’s official Instagram page, which boasts an audience of over 31 million followers, confirmed that the "Unavailable" singer had removed the activist from his following list.
A corresponding check on Verydarkman’s page, which commands over 3 million followers, showed the critic took reciprocal action.
The digital parting of ways quickly sparked intense reactions across social media, with fans and followers divided over the falling-out between the two former allies, while others called for an end to the protracted public drama.
Meanwhile, the social media development comes closely on the heels of legal relief for Verydarkman, who recently announced that a long-standing criminal impersonation case brought against him by the Nigeria Police Force, stemming from a video where he wore a police uniform, was struck out by a court for insufficient evidence.
