Revenue generation is Nigeria's major challenge- Senate President

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has singled out revenue generation as Nigeria's major challenge.

Giving his first address at today's plenary session, Lawan called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that government monies are received and adequately remitted.

To make this possible, he asked his colleagues to monitor the procurement processes of various MDAs to make sure they comply with the new law.

“Therefore, all hands must be on deck to ensure that accruals to the government are received and remitted,” Lawan said.

“The amendment to the Public Procurement Act 2007 is to ensure timely, effective and efficient execution of government projects.

“It is important, therefore, that we monitor closely, the procurement processes of the various MDAs to ensure compliance with the new law," he stressed.
