Iran attacks two Iraqi bases housing US troops

Iran has attacked Iraqi bases housing US troops with dozens of missiles in what may be a retaliation for the killing of General Qassim Soleimani.

Though no US casualty was recorded, a source told CNN that an assessment of the damage is underway.

A preliminary assessment had pointed out that they were Iraqi casualties. However, Iraqi sources say no Iraqi security official was recorded as casualty.

Two White House officials had initially stated that President Donald Trump would address the US on Tuesday. But that was dismissed by an official who tweeted:

"All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning."

This is coming amidst rising tensions between Iran and US following a US airstrike which killed Soleimani.
