Trump says he doesn't need Congressional approval to strike Iran

US President, Donald Trump has stated that he doesn't need approval form the Congress before he proceeds to strike Iran if they should attack America.

According to Congressional rules, the US Commander in Chief has the power to enter into war with another country in the best interest of the US. The Commander in Chief still has to inform the Congress who will then pass a vote on it.

However, Congressional rules also state that the President can respond to external threat without the approval of Congress.

Tweeting, Trump stated that a media post of his which he made on Sunday is enough notification to Congress on the threat Iran poses.

"These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner." " Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!", he wrote.

Trump also revealed that the US has identified 52 Iran targets they can strike if Iran makes a move on any American base or citizen.

According to him, the 52 targets represent the 52 US citizens held hostage by Iran.
