Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing quality and affordable healthcare to the people of the state.

The governor made this pledge on Saturday while inaugurating the newly remodeled and equipped General Hospital Anka.

The fully renovated facility now boasts of upgraded structures and state-of-the-art medical equipment, reflecting the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, outlined the revamped facilities.

“This include the GOPD/Old Admin Block, Male and Female Wards, Pharmacy Block, and a new gate fence.

“Additionally, a link corridor connects the female ward, X-ray, and Theatre Block.

“New constructions feature Accident and Emergency units, a laboratory, Eye and Dental Clinics, and Maternity/Old Lab Wards.

“The upgrades also extend to Antenatal Care (ANC), a new Theatre Block, X-ray and Admin Blocks, a Mosque, the Medical Director’s residence, and Paediatric Wards,” it read.

During the inauguration, Lawal emphasized that the project was completed within 12 months according to contract specifications.

“The rehabilitation of this hospital began last year and was awarded and executed by an indigenous and highly reputable company.

“The investment has transformed the hospital into a modern healthcare facility with state-of-the-art equipment.

“This will undoubtedly enhance the quality of medical care for our citizens in Anka and surrounding,” the governor stated

He added, “To the people of Anka and surrounding communities, this project is a fulfillment of one of our promises to deliver dividends of democracy and improve the livelihood of citizens.

“We will continue to prioritise development issues, ensuring that our people have access to quality and affordable healthcare, education, agriculture, roads, and other critical infrastructure across the state.”

Lawal also called on the hospital’s staff and management to ensure the facility is well-maintained and effectively utilised.

“I urge you to work tirelessly to provide quality healthcare services to our people,” he concluded.

The inauguration of the remodeled General Hospital Anka marks a significant milestone in Lawal’s agenda to revolutionise Zamfara’s healthcare system, the statement concluded.
