The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, offers hope to Nigerians, according to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.

Director’s remarks followed comments from the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who said the party would seek to lower fuel prices if Obi wins the 2027 election. Kwankwaso argued that energy costs in Nigeria are too high and said the party would take necessary steps to bring them down.

“Our collective position now is that the price of energy in this country is too high,” Kwankwaso said on Thursday.

“We are going to do whatever is necessary to ensure that the price of fuel in this country is taken back, including doing whatever we can, including the subsidy.”

Reacting, Director stated that Nigeria would be fine under Obi’s leadership.

In a post on X, he wrote: “Hope is on the way, President Obi is coming. Nigeria shall be OK. A new Nigeria is possible; we can do it.”
