‘You can’t be gay, Christian at the same time’ – Actress Juliana Olayode

Actress Juliana Olayode has stated that Christians cannot identify as gay or queer and still claim to follow the faith, calling on the Church to return to what she described as biblical truth.

In an Instagram post, Olayode said the Church can no longer remain silent as teachings that contradict the Word of God spread among adults, teenagers and children.

“We cannot afford to remain silent while teachings that contradict the Word of God continue to spread, reaching not just adults but teenagers and children too,” she wrote.

“It is time for the Church to wake up, return to the Scriptures, teach the truth, live by the Word, and stop compromising. We must speak the truth in love and stand firmly on God’s Word. Our convictions must be shaped by Scripture, not culture,” she added.

The actress stated that being gay and being a Christian cannot coexist without conflict, questioning whether believers are allowing the Word to shape their convictions or reshaping the Word to accommodate desires.

“This is not about hate or about judging people,” she clarified. “I do not hate people who identify as gay, homosexual, queer, etc. I do not believe they deserve to die, and I do not wish evil upon them because of the sexuality they’ve chosen. Every human being deserves to be treated with love.”

“Love is a commandment for all, but loving someone does not mean I must agree with their beliefs or lifestyle, especially when they are against the truth of Scripture. I love you enough to tell you the truth,” she wrote.

Citing the Bible, Olayode referenced Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”, and Matthew 19:4-6, where she said Jesus affirmed God’s design for male and female and His intention for marriage.

“As Christians, we believe God is our Creator, and we live by His words. Therefore, our desires do not become the final authority. God’s Word is our authority,” she concluded.
