Yoruba youths have started pasting flyers across the Southwest region to warn indigenes against the Indigenous Bill proposed by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The Indigenous Bill aims to grant indigenous rights to any Nigerian born in an area of the country who has stayed there for 10 years or is married to someone from the area.

This means that there will be an end to State of Origin in the Constitution, which ensures that Nigerians remain connected to their roots, culture and villages.

However, Yoruba people have been kicking against the bill, saying it is an expansionist agenda that will be used to wipe out minorities from their ancestral lands.

They also claim the bill is mainly targeted at Yorubaland by those who envy its prosperity and peacefulness and would want it for themselves by using the legislature.

To stop the bill, youths are creating awareness by distributing flyers to be posted on buses.

MyNigeria noticed that their plan has been put into action, going by photos showing the flyers in commercial buses and public places.

Speaking about the pasting of the flyer inside buses, one X user, @Bayo_Bilisi, said, "Do your math: A single 22-seater LT bus travelling from Toll Gate to Oshodi, Ikeja to CMS, and Eko Idumota to Ikorodu, will carry over 22 passengers in one direction. That’s about 44 passengers for a round trip, and roughly 440 passengers reading our sticker message on just one bus per day.

"Now, calculate that impact across the 100+ buses we’ve already branded. This gives you a clear picture of the visibility and reach to expect by Monday. Remember, these are permanent stickers that will remain on the buses for months. We at RONU are serious about this."
