Nollywood actor and director Kunle Afod has officially broken his silence regarding his separation from his wife, Desola Afod (popularly known as Celeb Wife), declaring that true creatives love their craft more than their spouses.

The confirmation comes months after their marriage crashed in February 2026, when Desola reportedly moved out of their marital home.

Speaking in a YouTube interview with content creator Kasnasty Sugar, the filmmaker attributed the split to the intense demands of his profession, coupled with mutual jealousy, suspicion, and cheating allegations.

"This job is heavy to the extent that we sometimes don't have time for our home," Afod explained. "Women believe that men cheat, but no man can cheat with a tree or wood. Men cheat with women... That's why it's not easy for our partners to cope, because they see art as their rival."

Expanding on the friction between marital life and acting, the veteran producer asserted that genuine actors will always prioritize their passion for the arts over personal relationships.

He admitted to missing opportunities to relocate abroad and disclosed that he sometimes goes up to six months without speaking to his children due to work immersion.

"What we actors love most is our work, not our wife. We love the job we do more than anything else," Afod declared. "If you truly love the job, you will prefer to let go of anybody for it... Nobody can hinder me. I was born for this and I will die for it."

Speaking further on the breakdown of his marriage, Afod made controversial statements regarding modern relationships, jealousy, and intimacy devices, suggesting that trust had eroded on both sides before the final separation.

Neither Desola nor her representatives have issued a response following Afod's public comments.
