Veteran Nigerian actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has explained why he accepted a role in Ghanaian actor and producer Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin's upcoming movie, 'A Journey to Africa'.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb at the Accra International Airport on September 30, 2026, Kanayo mentioned that he agreed to join the production after discussions with the director and reviewing the terms of the project.
According to him, his decision was primarily influenced by his profession as an actor and whether the script and production were worth his time.
"Frank, Director One, called me on WhatsApp and we discussed it. Then we started making to-and-fro calls and there was a contract. I accepted to be on the production because I'm an actor and if I read the script and it's worth my while, I agree to work on it," he said.
Kanayo explained that after agreeing to participate in the movie, the production team proceeded with the necessary arrangements, including sharing the physical script and work schedule with the actors.
"We have arrived and that's the first point of agreement and then we share the physical script and give the work schedule," he shared.
He also disclosed that although the cast arrived in Ghana together, the actors have different contracts and schedules depending on their respective roles.
"We arrived in a group; some of us may not film for the next two days and some may start filming today. It's all different contracts, and we're playing different roles," he explained.
Kanayo noted that the production is being filmed simultaneously, with the cast and crew working on different aspects of the movie at the same time.
"We are shooting everything at a go this time," he added.
