The brother of late Nollywood actress and filmmaker Allwell Ademola has sparked heated reactions online after publicly calling out some popular actors in the industry, accusing them of showing love only after her death while allegedly abandoning her during her lifetime. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
In a video currently making the rounds on social media, the grieving brother expressed deep frustration over what he described as “performative love” from several Nollywood stars. He questioned why many actors who are now sharing emotional tributes and condolence messages failed to support his sister when she was alive and actively working in the industry.
According to him, Allwell Ademola was known for her generosity and willingness to help others, yet the same level of support was not returned to her when she needed career opportunities, visibility, and professional backing.
He lamented that several A-list actors who are now mourning her did not feature her in their major film projects or help promote her work when she was striving to grow as a filmmaker. Speaking emotionally, he claimed that some colleagues benefitted from Allwell’s kindness, including using their family home as a filming location, but allegedly turned their backs on her afterward.
In his words, he said,
“Everybody dey post rest in peace. How many of you supported my sister when she was alive? All of una A-list actors wey call una self her friends… when una dey do movies, did you put Allwell?”
The video quickly generated mixed reactions, with many social media users sympathizing with his pain, while others urged caution, noting that not all industry relationships are visible to the public.
Reacting to the outburst, actress Iyabo Ojo, who was reportedly mentioned, broke her silence and strongly defended herself. She stated that she stood by Allwell Ademola while she was alive and contributed significantly to her career growth.
Iyabo Ojo explained that she featured in several of Allwell’s productions without collecting any payment and also supported her emotionally and financially during her journey as a producer and director.
She said,
“I oversupported your sister when she was alive. When she was building her career as a producer and director, I featured in her movies countless times for free and also supported financially and emotionally. May her beautiful soul continue to rest in perfect peace.”
As reactions continue to trail the exchange, many fans have called for empathy and restraint, noting that grief often brings out deep emotions and unresolved pain.
