NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima over their extended foreign trips during heightened national security challenges.

Speaking during a recent interview, Obi expressed disappointment that both the President and Vice President were out of the country concurrently, leaving citizens without clear communication regarding their whereabouts.

"Where’s the president? Nigerians deserve to know. When I travel, I tell people where I am. When I become president, people will know where I am 24/7, and my vacations will be in Nigeria," Obi stated.

Obi highlighted that the President's stay abroad exceeded the initially slated duration, compounding governance concerns at a time when citizens across several states are facing rampant kidnapping and violent insecurity.

"He's not just out of the country; he’s out of the country beyond the days he’s supposed to be. The vice president is also out of the country. We don't need this level of rascality at this point in time when Nigerians are being kidnapped and killed. We need a country where we have somebody with competence, capacity, and compassion," Obi added.

Concurrent or unannounced foreign trips by top political leaders frequently draw public scrutiny in Nigeria, with opposition figures demanding full medical or diplomatic disclosure and continuous executive presence at home.
