Following the global pandemic that has forced several Nigerians to stay at home, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari advised citizens to try gas instead of kerosene.

The NNPC chief gave this advice in an interview conducted on Channels Television this morning.

Advising Nigerians to try a cheaper alternative that is more sustainable in the long run, Kyari urged residents to try gas compared to kerosene.

Explaining the reason for the spike in Kerosene price, he blamed it on the shortage of aviation fuel. According to him, the shortage of aviation fuel affects the price of kerosene. Nonetheless, he said that there was a need to improve the Kerosene supply. However, he advised Nigerians to go for gas.

"Aviation fuels interject for kerosene. Anytime there is a shortage of aviation fuel, it affects the price of kerosene and then a spike in price. What we need is to improve on the supply of Kerosene products. This is a gas country and we can make it cheap," the NNPC boss advised.
