The second leg of the 2023-24 Champions League quarter-finals is finally here.

Four matches will be played to determine who will advance to the semi-finals.

Sports Brief looks at the five players who will miss out on this crucial stage of the tournament due to suspension.

Champions League QF 2nd leg suspensions

As per AS, once players pick up their third yellow card before the quarter-final stage ends, they will receive an automatic one-match ban in the Champions League.

Five players encountered this fate in the first leg of the 2023-24 quarter-finals last week and will miss the second leg of the quarters as a result.

1. Samuel Lino (Atletico Madrid)

The Atletico Madrid star will miss the second leg of their quarter-final clash against Borussia Dortmund after picking up his third yellow card of the tournament in their first-leg showdown last week.

Lino's suspension is a huge blow for Atletico as he was one of the goal-scorers in their 2-1 win over Dortmund. He scored from an Antoine Griezmann assist in the 32nd minute to give the Spanish side a 2-0 lead.

2. Sergi Roberto (Barcelona)

The Spanish midfielder will miss the second leg of Barcelona's quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain after picking up his third yellow card of the tournament in their first-leg matchup last week.

He received a booking in the 45th minute of that contest after pushing his compatriot Asensio.

3. Andreas Christensen (Barcelona)

Christensen will also miss the return leg in Barcelona due to yellow card accumulation. He received a booking after coming off the bench in the 3-2 win over PSG.

The Dane's suspension hurts Barca as he was one of the goal-scorers in their first-leg win. He scored the match-winner with his first touch of the game in the 77th minute, per Sky Sports.

4. Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

The Canadian star will miss the second leg of Bayern Munich's quarter-final clash against Arsenal after receiving his third yellow card of the 2023-24 Champions League season in their first-leg battle last week.

He incurred a one-match suspension when he was booked for a foul on the Gunners' Bukayo Saka in the ninth minute.

5. Aurelien Tchouameni (Real Madrid)

The Frenchman will make the trip to the Etihad Stadium but won't play in the second-leg clash after receiving his third yellow card of the tournament in Real Madrid's 3-3 draw with Manchester City last week.

The midfielder's suspension hurts the Spanish giants, as he was one of the reasons why City's Erling Haaland was shut down in that contest.
