UCL: 'We lost control' — Maresca reacts to Chelsea's 2-1 loss to Atalanta

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has shared his thoughts on why his side came up short against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.

The Blues threw away a first-half lead as the home side came from a goal down to turn the game on its head at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night.

João Pedro gave the visitors the lead in the 24th minute before Gianluca Scamacca equalized for La Dea 10 minutes into the second half.

Charles De Ketelaere grabbed the winner seven minutes from time to seal a crucial win for the Bergamo-based club.

Reacting to the loss, Maresca stated that his side lost control of the game after conceding the equalizer.

The Italian tactician added that his side failed to convert their chances to double their advantage after taking the lead.

“After we conceded the first goal, we lost control a little bit of the game,” Maresca told TNT Sports.

“We are playing every two days, two days, two days. For a moment we looked like we struggled a bit.

“We were aggressive like them. We had different chances to make it 2-0 and when we conceded 1-1 the dynamic of the game changed a little bit.”

After failing to win any of their last four games across all competitions, the Blues will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways against Everton over the weekend.
