It was a disappointing night in Monaco for Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray side as the Turkish champions were edged by a lone goal at the Stade Louis II.
For the first time this season, Galatasaray lost in the UEFA Champions League despite having Victor Osimhen on the field of play.
Their other two losses — against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday one and Union St. Gilloise in their last home game — all had the Nigerian sidelined with an injury.
The Ligue 1 side were the better team on the night as US international of Nigerian descent, Folarin Balogun, scored the only goal to secure all three points for the home side.
Prior to the goal, Denis Zakaria had missed from the spot after Davinson Sánchez’s foul.
Osimhen, who has been in a rich vein of form in Europe for Galatasaray, failed to find the back of the net for the first time in nine European matches.
Monaco ended the 26-year-old’s eight-game goalscoring streak in Europe, stretching back to last season in the Europa League.
