Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics supplier during a successful ambush operation in Borno State, intercepting food supplies believed to be destined for terrorists operating in the Jakana–Mulam axis.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 10:00 p.m. on July 13 by troops of the 273 Task Force Tank Battalion in conjunction with members of the Forest Guard as part of ongoing strangulation operations aimed at disrupting terrorist supply chains.
The sources said the troops, who had laid an ambush along a suspected logistics route, intercepted the suspect identified as Kazalal Modu while transporting assorted food items and other materials believed to be intended for Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.
Items recovered from the suspect included five cartons of spaghetti, 191 packs of digestive biscuits, two black nylon bags containing sugar, torchlights, a bicycle used for transportation, and the sum of ₦10,000 in cash.
According to the sources, the suspect was taken into custody and is currently undergoing preliminary investigation to determine the intended recipients of the supplies and identify other members of the terrorist logistics network operating within the area.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to degrade the operational capability of Boko Haram and ISWAP by targeting not only their fighters but also the network of collaborators responsible for supplying food, fuel, medicines and other essential items.
The strangulation operations have increasingly become a critical component of the counter-insurgency campaign in the North East, denying terrorist groups access to logistics that sustain their operations and limiting their ability to regroup after battlefield losses.
