There was an outpouring of emotions as popular content creator Iniobong Esther Louis, fondly known as Sunshine, was laid to rest in Lagos.

Sunshine, who was just 34 years old, reportedly passed away on January 9, 2026, after complications arising from fibroid surgery she had undergone weeks earlier in December 2025.

Her untimely death sent shockwaves through the online community and left friends, family, and fans heartbroken.

According to a close friend, Chidera Madu, Sunshine initially sought medical attention at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos. Sadly, her visit coincided with the nationwide doctors’ strike, which reportedly affected the level of care she received.

Chidera explained that Sunshine was given pain medication but did not receive a comprehensive diagnosis. As her condition grew worst, she was transferred to another hospital on January 2, 2026, in hopes of getting better treatment. Unfortunately, her health continued to decline, and she passed away days later.

Following the announcement of her death, friends and well-wishers took to social media to seek financial support to ensure Sunshine received a proper and dignified burial.

Her final journey began on Wednesday at the Lagos Island General Hospital in Marina, where her burial rites were observed. From there, her remains were taken in a solemn procession to Atan Cemetery in Yaba, where she was laid to rest.

Friends, family members, and fellow content creators gathered to say their final goodbyes. Tears flowed freely as those present reflected on her vibrant personality, creative talent, and the painful suddenness of her passing. The atmosphere was heavy with grief as tributes poured in, marking a heartbreaking farewell to a life gone too soon.
