After sustaining an injury in the Super Eagles’ World Cup playoffs final against the Democratic Republic of Congo, Victor Osimhen returned to action for Galatasaray in the mammoth Istanbul derby against Fenerbahce on Monday, December 1.

The 26-year-old was named in the starting lineup and featured for nearly the full 90 minutes before his substitution.

The Super Eagles striker was replaced by Mauro Icardi in the 89th minute.

The feisty encounter ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul.

Former Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane gave Galatasaray the lead in the 27th minute before Jhon Duran grabbed a late equalizer deep in stoppage time to send the entire stadium into delirium.

The result means Galatasaray have maintained their one-point lead at the top of the Super Lig log.
