The Oseni Center Library has organized its second annual debate program for secondary schools in Odogbolu, Ogun State.
It was the second debate since it was inaugurated in 2023.
The debate saw three secondary schools within the region debate on the topic “What should matter more to Nigerian leaders, regional interest or national interest”.
The schools that participated in the debate were Odogbolu Grammar School, Princewill Academy, and Variant College.
Princewill Academy emerged as the winner for the second time while Odogbolu Grammar School secured the second position, while Valiant College rounded out the top three.
Speaking on the Arise Morning Show on Monday, September 30, renowned journalist and broadcaster Rufai Oseni said the theme of the just-concluded debate feeds into the conversation ahead of Independence Day.
“I mean regional interest and national interest. I think most importantly, it is the values of the leader. If you have a regional government and the leader has loads of problems, definitely it will cascade down. The most important thing is how can we start having a conversation for the future,” he said.
In attendance were popular individuals including Rtd Court of Appeal Justice, Adefowope Okojie and Justice Oladotun Adefope.
The Oseni Center Library, a community library located in Odogbolu, Ogun State, was unveiled in November 2023.
