The Lagos State Police have announced that they rescued a man from an attempted suicide on Wednesday night after jumping unto the lagoon.

According to the police's statement of Twitter, the unidentified man was rescued by officers of the Rapid Response Suad - RRS who were on duty on the Third Mainland Bridge(3MD).

He reportedly alighted from a cab with the excuse that he wanted to urinate but made an attempt on his own life by jumping into the lagoon, the police statement read.

The unknown man, according to the police, was lucky to land "on the log of wood in the lagoon" and has since been transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police also posted a picture of the man on their official Twitter handle.

"Last night RRS officers on 3MB helped rescue this man who attempted suicide by diving into the lagoon. He alighted from a call cab saying he wanted to urinate but jumped off the Bridge. Luckily he landed on the log of wood in the lagoon before being rescued to the hospital," the police tweeted.
