Policemen from the IRT, Abuja, are currently at the residence of the Accord Party's Osun East Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Ibukun Ishola Fadipe (IBK), attempting to arrest him and frustrate the electoral process.

The spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke's Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said that the police are at the residence purportedly on the instructions of Senator Fadahunsi.

"Let it be clear to Senator Fadahunsi that it is already too late to stop the people of Ijesaland from electing their son as the Senator representing the Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District," Olajengbesi said on Facebook.

In another post, Olajengbesi said his team has successfully secured the release of 13 persons who were unjustly arrested and detained by the Nigerian Police Force for political reasons.

"We appreciate the Nigerian Police for listening to reason. These innocent young men committed no offence whatsoever. Their only 'crime' was their perceived political affiliation and support for Accord and Governor Ademola Adeleke.

"We are equally pleased that Chief Sesan Orija, who was arrested in a midnight operation in Esa Oke, has also regained his freedom.

"We call for the immediate and unconditional release of every other person still being detained without any lawful basis. The Nigerian Police Force must never be used as a political tool in the hands of politicians.

"We are particularly awaiting the immediate release of Hon. Popoola Alaba (popularly known as Alabama), who remains unjustly detained for political reasons. His continued detention is unacceptable and should be brought to an end without further delay.

"Thank you, Mr. Inspector General of Police, Mr. Olatunji DISU. We trust that justice will continue to prevail," he said.
