Popular Nigerian businessman and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has got social media talking after reacting to the growing trend of people calling him "City Boy."
The nickname recently gained traction following his appointment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, an APC-aligned group campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election.
However, Obi Cubana appears to be linking the title to something entirely different.
In a video shared online, the billionaire businessman attributed the "City Boy" label to his latest project, Cubana Millennium City, a large-scale housing estate currently under construction in Asaba, Delta State.
While giving viewers a glimpse of the ongoing work at the site, Obi Cubana revealed that the ambitious project, which kicked off in December 2025, is scheduled for completion by April 2026.
Reacting to the nickname in the video, he said,
“What’s going on? Everybody is calling me City Boy because I’m building the biggest city in Africa. I don’t have time to respond to anything right now. When I’m ready, I will respond.”
The clip, which shows heavy construction activity at the estate, quickly sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the scale of the project. In contrast, others debated the meaning behind the now-popular “City Boy” tag.

@Viktorcruzkent__"This is what I was saying they’ll build hotels and apartments for rent and they’ll think they’re helping the poor . If you think a poor man can live in this city after completed you’re sick .They can never be like dangote, Mike adenuga and BUA the real backbone of Nigeria economy"
@NnayiLexon___"This is really massive and I encourage such infrastructural investment in different states in Nigeria, although I know such will be difficult to achieve in place like Edo state, because it’s not a commercial city/state"
