Singer Asake has shared personal insights about his relationship with his parents, revealing that they don't joke with him.

In a Yoruba-language interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Asake recalled how his once-close bond with his father grew distant after he chose to pursue a career in music against his father's wishes.

The singer also explained that his father was strongly opposed to his musical ambitions, which ultimately strained their relationship.

He said, "I am always with my mother because me and her understand ourselves more than my father. Both my parents are accommodating, but they don't joke with me. I was close with my father when I was very young, but at a time, I wanted to leave home to pursue what I am currently doing, and he said no. I was 15 years old then, I just left home. I was determined to become who I am today. I have the same love for both my parents."

When asked what he would say if his father were present at the interview, Asake reflected on his lasting love for his father, noting that his feelings have remained unchanged despite years apart and their challenges.
