Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has picked Nigeria legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha as his favourite African player.

The West Ham star believes Okocha is the greatest African player ever following his enormous skills and talent during his playing days.

The former Nigeria captain has won several individual and team accolades, including the BBC Player of the Year award and the Goal of the Year in the Bundesliga in 1993.

According to Kudus, Okocha's ability to excite supporters with his flair and natural skills makes him the greatest-ever African player.

“I will say Jay Jay Okocha. From explaining on how in my lens I see creative players trying to entertain the game, that can never be washed away, and the fans can never forget that the experience and your entertainment you give on the pitch,” Kudus told Sky Sports.

"I know now goals and assists are important, but I like creative players and players that entertain the fans. Trying to do something different than passing the ball around," he added.

Kudus is enjoying an outstanding campaign at West Ham and leads the dribblers chart in the English Premier League, as reported by Ghana Soccernet.

The former Ajax attacking midfielder has also scored 13 goals across all competitions and his solo strike against Freiburg won the Goal of the Month.

Kudus joined the Hammers in the summer transfer window from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
