Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has revealed how her colleague, Mercy Johnson, came to her aid during a frightening period when her ex-husband allegedly threatened to kill her.
Etinosa disclosed in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she recounted receiving death threats after speaking about domestic abuse in a past relationship.
According to the actress, the threats began after she casually mentioned during an interview that a former relationship “nearly killed” her.
She explained that although the interview was meant to promote a film titled "Stormy Heart," the media outlet focused solely on her comments about marriage, triggering backlash and exposing details she had never publicly shared.
Etinosa said her ex-husband became furious, accusing her of trying to ruin his career and demanding that she publicly retract her statements by claiming she was a “bitter ex.” When the threats intensified, she took to Instagram to seek help.
She revealed that Mercy Johnson, who has strong ties to the military, reached out and escalated the matter to the Chief of Naval Staff. Shortly after, Etinosa said she was contacted by officials from Abuja and assured that the case had been taken over and that the threats would stop.
“To cut the story short, someone from Abuja reached out to me and said they were now on the case, and that the person would not bother me anymore,” she said.
Etinosa was previously married to a military officer, Babatunde Solomon, with the marriage ending between 2017 and 2018. Her second marriage to Benin-based lawyer Ighorosa also ended in 2021 after the birth of their child.
