Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie, following the recent controversy that led to her arrest and court appearance.

It will be recalled that Okorie was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja, at her Lagos home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, over allegations of cyberbullying involving Mercy Johnson. She was subsequently remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre on Wednesday, January 29, before being granted bail two days later.

On Friday, January 30, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, approved her bail application. The court set bail at ₦5 million, with one surety required to provide the same amount, following an application filed by her counsel, Earnest Nwoye.

In an emotional video shared online after her release, Angela Okorie directly addressed Mercy Johnson, her children, and her family, expressing regret over her actions.

“I am not perfect, and I want to sincerely apologise,” she said. “If my words or anything I wrote ever hurt you whenever your name came up on social media, I am deeply sorry.”

She went on to dismiss negative narratives about Mercy Johnson, stressing her desire for peace and reconciliation.

“You are not a witch, and you are not what people have been calling you. I want peace. Our children may grow up to be friends, and as mothers, we should never allow issues between us affect them,” she added.

Okorie further stated that she does not support bullying in any form and pledged to turn a new leaf.

“I apologise for anything I may have said or done against you, knowingly or unknowingly. This is a fresh start. You are my friend, and I will never listen to gossip about you again. I love you, and I pray that God continues to bless and elevate you,” she concluded.
