Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has faulted Sunday Oliseh's recent criticism of Victor Osimhen and the Super Eagles team during the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

Oliseh had criticized the Galatasaray striker for his conduct during Nigeria's semi-final clash with hosts Morocco.

The former midfielder also lashed out at the team for celebrating their third-place finish after beating Egypt, calling it a recipe for mediocrity.

However, Olopade believes that legends like Oliseh should serve as role models for the current crop of players, not constantly criticize them by comparing them to past achievements.

“I disagree with Oliseh on many of his comments, including his indictment of Osimhen and others,” Olopade told Footy-Africa.

“Our superstars of yesterday deserve respect, but they must also take their place as mentors to the younger generation, not denigrate them.”
