Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has said the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has more credibility than former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
According to him, this is because the JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Omoyele, publicly apologized after the board made an error that led to mass failure of candidates that sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
He said the same could not be said if Obi who is yet to admit that it was his voice captured in a leaked audio calling the 2023 presidential election a religious war.
Omokri wrote, "I have a lot of respect and trust for JAMB because they made an error, admitted it, and then apologized to the nation, with their Registrar General taking responsibility.
"Not only did the Registrar General of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board take full personal responsibility, but he also provided remedial solutions to indemnify those affected by the unfortunate incident.
"I see a lot of people insulting JAMB and their Registrar General, Professor Ishaq Olarenwaju Oloyede, and I marvel because many of these people do not understand that what the leadership of JAMB did is rare and exemplary.
"If you think it is easy, ask yourself this: How many big politicians, pastors, churches, and others in society have made errors and admitted them?
"Peter Obi, for example, was caught in a leaked audio, basically plotting what amounted to religious cleansing of the Muslim Ummah. He indicated that to him, the election was a "religious war".
"Has he ever admitted to that? We know it was his voice.
"He vowed to sue Peoples Gazette. However, more than two years later, he still has not sued. If you are waiting for him to sue, you will wait forever.
"Moreover, when Charles Aniagolu on Arise TV asked if that was him on the tape, Peter Obi refused to answer, though the question was repeated thrice.
"Yet you, as an Obidient, insult, attack, and criticise JAMB and Prof Ishaq Olarenwaju Oloyede.
"What about a man of God, like Pastor Tunde Bakare, who has lied multiple times? At one point, he even lied against the Holy Spirit.
"I ceased taking Pastor Tunde Bakare seriously ever since he lied against the Holy Ghost by prophesying (wrongly) that 'Let me tell you the truth by the spirit of God, neither OBJ, Atiku, IBB and this tall one, Buhari are part of the new. They are part of the old that is decaying. That old one is passing away. The new is emerging and these ones are not part of that new.'
"For those who do not know, Pastor Tunde Bakare made the above statement in an October 2, 2006, interview he gave to Punch Newspapers. Please research it.
"It is now a historical record that after claiming that God’s Holy Spirit told him Muhammadu Buhari was part of Nigeria’s decaying past, the same Pastor Tunde Bakare went ahead to accept being the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari, who was ‘not part of the new’ in 2011.
"Mr. Bakare later said that he was the anointed "sixteenth" President of Nigeria and that the matter had been settled.
"His exact words were, 'I have never said that to you before. I make it plain this morning, I let you know it this morning, nothing can change it in the name of Jesus. He (Buhari) is number 15, I am number 16?'
"Until today, he has not apologised to his flock and Nigerians for making such false claims. Yet, he still condemns others, and Nigerians clap for him.
"What about Pastor Paul Enenche? He stood on the pulpit at Dunamis church and told his congregation to call their friends and relatives and "tell them what to vote. Tell them in clean, clear, language. Both the picture, the image, the logo, what to vote. The violent taketh it by force. Clearly".
"What Pastor Enenche did was not only unethical, but it also went against the registration restrictions of his church, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission to spread the Gospel, not to campaign for a political party or candidate.
"It also goes against the Electoral Act when you take into account case law that says, based on the Theory of Coercive Influence and the Theory of Psychological Influence, it is an improper use of ecclesiastical authority as a cleric to interfere with people's choices in an election.
"And then, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, Pastor Enenche again attacked the candidate of the All Progressives Congress on the pulpit and said, "There are some whose names nobody is sure. Date of birth, nobody is sure. Source of money, nobody is sure. State of health, nobody is sure. Level of sanity and reasoning capacity, nobody is sure. Schools attended, nobody is sure. And yet they are being marketed and advertised to lead the nation to a destination nobody is sure'.
"Scripture does not support Mr. Enenche's behaviour. It is also capable of disturbing the peace and creating religious strife in a multiethnic and religiously heterogeneous society like Nigeria. If he had done what he did in the United States or Great Britain, both his licence to preach and his tax-exempt status would have been revoked.
"By virtue of the Companies Income Tax Act, Pastor Paul Enenche's Dunamis International Gospel Centre enjoys tax-exempt status as long as it restricts itself to "ecclesiastical, charitable, or educational activities of a public character."
"By engaging in open and partisan political campaigning while on the pulpit, even to the point of telling people who to vote for, with their photos, Pastor Enenche violated that provision, and the Body of Christ would not tolerate that coming from a prominent Muslim cleric.
"Yet, Enenche has not apologized to date and instead sued me in court, where I defeated him.
"In light of this, Nigerians should understand that what JAMB did took courage. Courage that is in short supply in Nigeria."
