A Lagos-based rights activist, Adeniyi Akanni, has urged the Federal Government to seek foreign assistance in the fight against security challenges confronting the country.

He noted that the federal government should not shy away from accepting foreign assistance to contain insurgency, banditry and heinous crimes in the country.

Adeniyi urged northern governors not to negotiate with bandits terrorising their states.

He said: "You don’t appease evil. We are dealing with evil in the name of insurgency, banditry, and herdsmen attacks, unfortunately we have encouraged its proliferation and enthronement by appeasing the perpetrators.”
