President Bola Tinubu has granted "full authority" to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Christopher Musa to bring to book the individuals responsible for the killing of 16 soldiers and a civilian in Okuama in Ughelli South and Okolaba in Bomadi local government areas (LGAs) of Delta state.

The President in the statement by his Special Adviser Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga extended his "condolences to the family of these fallen soldiers."

The attacks on the soldiers are a direct attack on the nation the statement reads.

Sixteen soldiers who were on a mission to halt the clashes between two communities in the southern state of Delta were killed according to a statement by the army.

The troops were from the 181 Amphibious Battalion deployed in the Bomadi region, had responded to the conflict in the Okuoma community when they were killed on Thursday, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said in a statement on Saturday.

President Tinubu said the attack again shows the dangers faced by "our servicemen and women in the line of duty" adding "As a nation, we must constantly remember and honour all those who have paid the ultimate price to keep our nation safe, strong, and united."

"The officers and men who died in Okuama community have joined the pantheon of great men and women who gave their all, with honour, in the service of our fatherland," he continued.

Like the previous administration, the Bola Tinubu-led administration has yet to grasp the criminal activities that have plagued past administrations.

Several reports indicate that the bandits between March 6 and March 11 have abducted more than 800 unsuspecting Nigerians, mostly schoolchildren, who daredevil terrorists in the northern part of the country kidnaped.

The brazen attacks in the Northern part of the country aren't different from the experience of the Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan administrations.

According to Amnesty International (AI) Boko Haram terrorists abducted over 400 people, including women and children in Borno State on Tuesday last week.

The Islamic extremists abducted the victims who reportedly left the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps in Gamboru Ngala council area to search for firewood.
