The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has introduced enhanced wheelchair assistance and special support services for passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and others requiring mobility aid at airports across the country.
The authority said the initiative was designed to ensure dignity, safety, and comfort for all categories of travellers.
Announcing the development on Monday in a statement on X (Formerly Twitter), FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, noted that wheelchair services will now be available from check-in through boarding and on arrival.
“Wheelchair services are provided from check-in through boarding and on arrival.
Dedicated staff are available to offer guidance and support. Priority is given at security checks and boarding gates,”the statement partly read.
She added that accessible facilities, including restrooms and elevators, have been provided in terminals to make air travel easier.
Orah also advised passengers in need of support to notify their airline or airport staff ahead of time, or make their request at the special assistance desk upon arrival.
