Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that striker João Pedro will be unavailable for the Blues’ upcoming fixtures.

According to the former Real Madrid manager, the Brazilian international will be out of action for a few weeks due to injury.

Pedro was missing in action during the Blues’ disappointing 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward is also expected to miss Chelsea’s clash against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Alonso made this disclosure during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Blues’ clash against Liverpool.

“João has suffered a thigh injury. He won’t be available for a few weeks,” Alonso said.
