Coronavirus: learn from UK, don't be caught unawares - Twitter users to FG

The United Kingdom has put in place, contingency plans, to help combat the epidemy of the deadly coronavirus and most importantly, prevent it from further entering the UK.

The deadly coronavirus has killed over 1,500 persons and the recorded cases have surpassed a total of 44,000.

About nine cases have been confirmed in the UK and the British government is adopting contingency planning for a worst-case scenario, bringing all sectors on board to prevent more cases in the UK.

As a result, Twitter users believe that it is a good initiative that the Federal Government of Nigeria should emulate to avoid being caught unaware as to coronavirus spread of the virus creates more panic across the globe.

According to Dr. Ayoade Alakija - @yodifiji, she feels that the problem is not for the health sector to battle alone and expects the FG to carry others along as done by the UK.



"Corona Virus contingency planning by the British Government. Quite rightly demonstrating that this is a multi-sectoral problem and thus requires a multi-sectoral response. Education, Transport, Health; Finance..."

Another user identified as Dr. Dípò Awójídé - @OgbeniDipo said, "Nigeria ???????? please come and learn and prepare. Don’t be caught sleeping! Plan ahead!!"

While commenting on the report that the Chinese city of Beijing is placing newly arrived foreigners under quarantine, @yodifiji said, "Prevention is better than cure. Shows how serious this is. Better to be safe than sorry. Now that #Beijing is placing newly arrived foreigners under quarantine is it now pc for #Africa to place all travellers from #China and affected regions under quarantine orders. #CoronaVirus"
