The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026) will proceed in Morocco as planned.
Morocco, having successfully hosted the 2022 edition, were awarded the hosting rights for both the 2024 and 2026 tournaments back in 2024.
Even though the 2024 edition was rescheduled to 2025 due to a congested football calendar, the North African nation proved their quality by showcasing world-class infrastructure and providing an excellent hosting experience for the continent.
Despite Morocco's proven track record, speculation had recently emerged suggesting the North Africans might relinquish their hosting rights following the controversy-marred 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
These rumors gained momentum as South Africa publicly indicated their readiness to step in as an alternative host.
However, CAF President Patrice Motsepe has now put those rumors to rest, confirming there will be no change in venue for the upcoming tournament.
