The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina met President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) today.

They held a closed-door meeting in the State House on Tuesday.

Buhari assured the bank's President of his immense support.

"In 2015, when you were to be elected for the first term, I wrote to all African leaders, recommending you for the position. I didn’t say because you were a PDP Minister, and I belonged to the APC, so I would withhold my support," Buhari said.

These words of encouragement were exciting. Adesina thanked the President in return for the support given him.

Adesina words: "Thank you very much Your Excellency President Buhari for your unflinching support. I am delighted, humbled and greatly encouraged that the nation, under your leadership, stands solidly with me. I am extremely grateful Sir."

Adesina has been accused of breaching the bank’s code of ethics.

The allegations include various cases of alleged breaches of the code of conduct, unethical conduct, private gain, an impediment to efficiency, preferential treatment, and involvement in political activity, all affecting confidence in the integrity of the bank, according to U.S Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin.

In a recent report, the bank denied reports that Akinwumi Adesina, President of the bank has been asked to resign.

More recently, prominent Nigerians like Peter Obi, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Obasanjo and the Federal Government of the West African nation stepped up to his defence, dismantling every allegation against him as false.

Support has also doubled from the lawmakers, and now the President.
