Elsie Okpocha, the ex-wife of Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, has finally reacted to viral reports surrounding the collapse of their marriage.

The rumours, which have been making the rounds on social media, alleged that the marriage ended over paternity issues, with claims suggesting that Basketmouth was not the biological father of their children.

Reacting through her Instagram Story, Elsie strongly questioned the credibility of the reports and whether the comedian had ever made such a statement.

“All you Facebook bloggers fabricating lies. Is Basketmouth aware he made that statement?” she wrote.

Beyond denying the allegation, Elsie also issued a stern warning to bloggers and content creators spreading the claims online.

While noting that public figures are often subjected to false stories, she made it clear that her children should not be dragged into the controversy.

“You can make up unimaginable stories about me, but please leave my kids out of this nonsense!” she added.

The controversy began after unverified reports surfaced online claiming that the real reason behind the end of her marriage to Basketmouth was linked to paternity fraud.

The claim alleged that the comedian had discovered he was not the biological father of the children, an accusation Elsie has now publicly challenged.

So far, Basketmouth has not issued any statement addressing the viral claims.

Recall that in 2023, the comedian announced the end of his marriage to Elsie in a brief statement shared on Instagram, where he emphasised their commitment to peaceful co-parenting and appealed for privacy.

Since then, both parties have largely kept details of their separation away from the public eye.

The latest rumours have, however, reignited conversations online, with many social media users condemning the inclusion of children in unverified celebrity gossip.
