The Dein of Agbor, Delta State, Obi Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagboruzi I, has stated that the Agbor people are not Igbos, who have no history.

According to him, the Agbor kingdom and its people date back 2,000 years, while the Igbo tribe of Nigeria was created 50 years ago.

In a viral video, the monarch could be seen addressing his subjects inside his palace about who they truly are.

He said, "We are Agbor people. We are not Igbos. We must be proud of that We do not speak Ika because we do not speak the language that has no meaning. We speak Agbor.

"What do you prefer as young people? Do you want to take the heritage of a 2,000-year-old kingdom called Agbor, or do you want to live by the heritage of the Igbo entity that was just created 40 or 50 years ago that has no history? Which one will you prefer?"
