A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has slammed former presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu for applauding US President Donald Trump and his threat against Nigeria.
MyNigeria reported that Trump threatened to send US forces to Nigeria if the government fails to put a stop to the killings of Christians in the country.
Reacting, Moghalu shared on X, "The right to life and other fundamental rights are being shredded both by Boko Haram and extremist herdsmen. This invokes the responsibility of @NigeriaGov to protect Nigerians and Nigerian territory. Period. No excuses. With a security strategy made evident by its effectiveness, Nigeria should then engage the influential foreign countries expressing interest in this matter. But we should not overlook the fact that activists and interest groups are seeking foreign intervention because they believe their own country has not been able to secure their lives. There should be no “ungoverned spaces” in any country, because such a phenomenon is directly opposed to the concept of effective government and governance. The existence of such spaces is evidence of state failure."
Not pleased with Moghalu's stance, Igbokwe accused him of throwing Nigeria under the bus in applauding Trump.
He said, "I hear that Dr Kingsley Moghalu from my town Uruagu Nnewi was among the first public figure that took to social media to applaud Trump and threw Nigeria under the bus. When they fail in politics they resort to brigandage. He pretends as if he did not know what happened in the South East and his town Nnewi in 10 years. Igbo killing Igbo and pointing accusing fingers to unknown gunmen. Arrant nonsense and ingredients. Okenye na agwo ofe.!!"
