Adeyanju urges Atiku to expose himself to X Spaces interview like Obi

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has urged aides of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to stage an X Spaces interview for their principal, just as was done for former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

According to him, that should be their task, rather than complaining about the interview held for Obi on Sunday.

He said on X, "Why are the Atiku guys crying? From the Obi takes I have seen online, he’s speaking to his base and saying what they would like to hear. That’s what politicians all over the world do. Also, organise space for your Atiku, let him say what you want to hear."

MyNigeria reported that during Sunday's interview, Obi said he would serve only one term if the anti-Tinubu coalition grants him its 2027 presidential ticket.

According to Obi, he would ensure that his tenure doesn't serve beyond May 28, 2031, which is a day before the normal handover date recognised by the Constitution.

"If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031 — not even May 29. I am not desperate to be president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work," Obi said while speaking during an XSpaces on Sunday.

"If the coalition is about sharing tickets and power for its sake, count me out. I'm not interested. I want a coalition that stops the killings in Borno, puts food on people's tables, and gets our industries working," he added.

Furthermore, Obi stated that he's not desperate to secure the presidential ticket of the coalition, adding that he's ready to support whoever emerges as the coalition's candidate.

"I won't say I must have the ticket. That's not leadership. You must work with others, consult widely, and put Nigeria first," he said."

He confirmed he remains deeply involved in the coalition movement but emphasised that talks are focused on structure, not personalities:

"We have not reached the stage of choosing candidates. For now, we're discussing how to come together for Nigeria's sake," he said.

"It is not a Peter Obi movement. It is a people's coalition. I will only move forward based on what Nigerians and those I work with believe is best," he added.
