Eager to have their results uploaded before officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) left their community, some electorates at Lifecamp, in Abuja, did the unthinkable.

In a video that has been shared online, the community members are seen frantically setting a fire and preparing to cook food for the INEC officials so that they are comfortable enough to do their job.

Shared by a tweep by name, @MattBobmanuel, he indicated that his polling unit members had decided to cook for the INEC officials because they, as much as possible, wanted their results uploaded that night.

Nigerians went to the polls on Saturday, February 25, 2023, to vote in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections in the country.

There were however a number of challenges in certain places because officials of INEC arrived late, although elections, which started at 8:30 AM, were supposed to end at 2:30 PM.

In the tweet shared @MattBobmanuel wrote that, “My polling unit people are cooking for the INEC staff… they said they must upload their results this night.”

He also indicated that in that polling unit, the candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi, won.

“Labour party won in all 6 polling units in our area, by a 90-98 % margin,” he added.

The citizens are seen with a crate of eggs and some fresh tomatoes, even as others boiled the eggs on a traditional stove set up on the side.

Official results from the election are yet to be announced by the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, but results are gradually trickling into the INEC system.
