Nigerian relationship commentator Solomon Buchi has once again found himself at the heart of a social media firestorm after dropping a fiery opinion about married men and their presence on Snapchat.
Speaking on Sunday, May 18, 2026, Buchi left little room for interpretation as he questioned the motives of any married man who actively uses the platform.
"I can never understand why a married man is on Snapchat. What are you doing there? Whenever I see a married man who uses Snapchat regularly, I believe you're cheating," he said pointedly.
He went further, linking the app's culture to explicit content exchange, arguing that Snapchat's reputation makes it difficult to give married users the benefit of the doubt.
"One of the top activities that happens on that app is sending and receiving of nudes. How can you be active on Snapchat as a married person?" he challenged.
The comments landed like a grenade online.
While a section of social media users rallied behind his concerns, citing issues of trust and secrecy in modern relationships, others firmly disagreed, insisting that simply having an account on a platform is not enough to brand someone unfaithful.
The conversation also reignited a broader debate around digital boundaries in marriage — particularly around Snapchat's disappearing messages feature, which many associate with secret or private communication.
This is not an entirely new conversation in Nigeria. Similar discussions previously erupted in 2023, when the platform became a focal point in online debates about secret affairs and digital infidelity among couples.
Buchi, however, was careful to note that his comments were not a blanket indictment of every Snapchat user, acknowledging that the real issue at the core of the debate is perception and the fragile nature of trust in today's relationships.
