200 homes destroyed in Taraba windstorm

More than 200 homes and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by a windstorm in towns in Taraba on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

Some residents in the affected towns, Wukari and Donga told Daily Trust the storm was accompanied by heavy rainfall which lasted for about two hours.

One of the residents, Idi Muhammed who spoke to Daily Trust said the storm destroyed houses, churches and washed away vehicles in Wukari. He said as a result, many people were rendered homeless.

There has been no casualty reported.

John Dauda also told Daily Trust that many houses were destroyed by a wind storm in Donga town Wednesday night.

He said residents rendered homeless are putting up with relations whose houses were not affected by the storm.

The victims have called on Taraba state to assist them with roofing sheets to renovate their houses, Daily Trust reports.

The Chairman of wukari local government area Adi Daniel Grace has called on the state Emergency Management Agency to provide relief.
