Joseph Yobo is a retired Nigerian professional football player who played center-back. He was born on September 6, 1980, in Kono, Rivers State, Nigeria. Yobo is best known for his time playing for Everton in the English Premier League and for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.

Yobo made his professional debut in 1998 and proceeded to play for several clubs, including Standard Liège, Marseille, and Fenerbahçe, before joining Everton in 2002. He spent 10 seasons at Everton, making over 250 appearances and becoming a fan favorite.

At the international level, Yobo represented Nigeria in several tournaments, including three World Cups (2002, 2010, and 2014) and six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. He was also the captain of the Super Eagles from 2010 until his retirement in 2014.

After retiring from football, Yobo has worked as a football pundit and analyst and has also been involved in various charity initiatives in Nigeria. He is considered one of the greatest Nigerian football players of all time, known for his leadership, defensive skills, and dedication to the sport.
