Chinwe Ohajuruka is a Nigerian green Architect. She is the founder and CEO of Comprehensive Design Services (CDS), and has dedicated her career to addressing the pressing need for affordable and eco-friendly housing solutions in Nigeria and beyond.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Ohajuruka's passion for architecture and sustainable development was ignited during her formative years. After completing her architectural studies at the University of Nigeria, she pursued further education in the United States, obtaining a Master's degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

She returned to Nigeria, and was deeply troubled by the housing crisis in the country, where millions of people live in inadequate and unsustainable dwellings. Determined to make a difference, she founded Comprehensive Design Services (CDS) in 2005. She currently does her projects between Nigeria and the United States.

CDS has developed pioneering approaches to sustainable architecture, incorporating locally-sourced materials, renewable energy systems, and efficient design principles. One of her notable projects is the Earthbag Technology, which utilizes locally available materials such as soil-filled bags to construct durable and cost-effective housing structures.

This technique not only addresses the affordability aspect but also promotes environmental sustainability by minimizing the carbon footprint associated with construction.

Ohajuruka is also committed to community engagement and empowerment. Through CDS, she has initiated various capacity-building programs, training local artisans and builders in sustainable construction techniques.

She has received widespread recognition and accolades for her contributions to sustainable development, including the prestigious Rolex Award for Enterprise and the African Diaspora Marketplace Award.

Her work has also been featured in international publications and conferences, shining a spotlight on the importance of sustainable housing as a catalyst for socio-economic development.
