Chidinma Ekile, better known by her stage name Chidinma, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress born on May 2, 1991. The singer was born in Ketu, Kosofe, Lagos State, and is a native of Imo State. She rose to fame in 2010 following her victory in the third season of Project Fame West Africa.

After the music video for her song "Emi Ni Baller" was released, she made history as the first female musician to reach the top of the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart. She released the song "Jankoliko" in 2011 with assistance from Sound Sultan.

She has six siblings and is her parents' sixth born child. Chidinma's father was strict when she was growing up, and she started singing at the age of six. She joined the choir at her church when she was ten years old. Chidinma moved to Ikorodu with her family after completing her elementary and secondary education in Ketu. Before going for an audition for the third season of Project Fame West Africa, she was employed in Lagos as a business promoter. Despite her desire to pursue mass media, she graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in sociology. Chidinma first turned down admission to the University of Lagos following her success in Project Fame West Africa.

Chidinma has listed Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Mariah Carey, Fela Kuti, Omawumi, Onyeka Onwenu, Lagbaja, and Darey Art Alade as musicians who inspire her music career.

Chidinma stated in an interview with Guardian Life that she was born blind and had vision problems for a few months. In order to assist young individuals with visual impairments throughout Africa, she established the NMA Foundation. The final three letters of her name were used to create the foundation's name.

Chidinma has been nominated for numerous awards and has won many as well. She won Best Pop Extra Video at the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA), and Best Female West African at the Kora Awards as well.
