Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman commonly known by his stage name Oxlade, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter signed to multiple record labels. He was born on April 22, 1997 in Surulere, a residential area in Lagos. Oxlade rose to fame after releasing his hit track, Away, which appeared on the Rolling Stone 50 best songs of 2020 list.

He lost his mother when he was quite young, and was raised by his father and grandmother. Oxlade's father was a lecturer at the Lagos State University, where the singer eventually enrolled.

Oxlade started his musical career in church. At the age of 10, he led the junior choir at his neighborhood church. Years later, Oxlade made the highly unpopular decision to go from gospel to secular music among his relatives. His mother's and father's uncles ceased offering any form of assistance because they were so harshly disapproving of the choice.

After that, Oxlade left Lagos State University to focus on his career. He was enrolled in a degree program in International Relations and History at the time of his dropout.

Oxlade joined Sony Entertainment's esteemed Epic Records recording label in 2022. Epic Records made the announcement about the agreement via a tweet. On the post, the record label hinted at the impending release of Oxlade's new track. Oxlade initially signed with Epic Records and then, by extension, with Columbia Records.

Oxlade is currently single. He recently revealed that prior to becoming popular, he had broken up with his girlfriend. The two were quite upbeat, but it seemed like he was seeing the girl behind her boyfriend's back and said the relationship was "bound to crash."

Even though Oxlade knew the relationship would not work, he claims he gave it his all. According to him, the girl eventually, returned to her former lover after being advised that Oxlade would give her no attention once he became famous.
