Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. He is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer who has had a number of up-and-coming artistes under his DMW record label. He is considered one of Africa's biggest music stars.

While attending Oakwood University in his late teens, he developed an interest in music and began producing his own beats and researching music production. After leaving school to focus solely on music, he moved to Lagos, Nigeria, and released his first single, "Back When," in 2011.

The mix of clubby production, intense vocals, and Afro-pop rhythms captured some attention for the record, which was quickly followed by his second single, "Dami Duro." He later started working on his first album, "Omo Baba Olowo" and it yielded numerous hits after it was released in 2012.

Davido's career took off, and over the next several years, he kept his fans satisfied with a plethora of new songs while he worked on his follow-up album, The Baddest, which he had not yet published as of 2023. Singles like "Gobe," "Aye," and "Pere" (among many others) piled up between 2013 and 2017, occasionally involving partnerships with more well-known rappers like Meek Mill or Young Thug.

Davido is credited alongside Burna Boy and Wizkid for popularizing afrobeats globally. He has won numerous awards including the BET Award for Best International Act and several MTV Africa Music Awards. In 2024, he received three Grammy nominations for the Grammy Awards. He has collaborated with international artistes including Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj.

Davido has been involved in some controversies including feuds with other artistes like Tiwa Savage and Dammy Krane. He has also been involved in infidelity scandals and being trolled on social media for some misconducts.

The singer went on a hiatus in 2022 following the sudden death of his son Ifeanyi who tragically drowned in the family’s Banana Island residence. Following his return, he created a stir both in Nigeria and abroad with his Timeless album, which peaked at the top of worldwide music charts.

He is currently married to his long-time girlfriend Chioma Rowland and they welcomed a boy and girl twins in October 2023. Davido also has 3 children with 3 baby mamas.
