Barcelona were confirmed as Champions of the 2024/25 LaLiga season after a deserved 2-0 win against cross-town rivals Espanyol helped them open an insurmountable seven-point gap over Real Madrid with two matches left in the season.

Youngster Lamine Yamal was at the heart of the triumph once again, scoring the winning goal with an audacious, thunderous effort, before Fermin Lopez made sure of the there points with a strike in additional time to seal a 2-0 win for Barcelona over Espanyol.

After Real Madrid’s dramatic win over Mallorca the day before, Barcelona needed all three points to mathematically secure the title, and they delivered in style.

Although the first half saw Espanyol dominate and create the better chances, particularly a tame effort from Javi Puado that was saved by Wojciech Szczesny, the Blaugrana turned the tide after halftime.

Hansi Flick made a key substitution, bringing on Alejandro Balde, which sparked new energy into the team.

Seventeen-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal once again stole the spotlight. Receiving a pass from Dani Olmo, he cut inside and unleashed a spectacular left-footed strike into the top corner, leaving Espanyol’s goalkeeper Joan Garcia rooted.

Things got worse for Espanyol when Leandro Cabrera was shown a red card after a VAR check for striking Yamal in the stomach.

With the man advantage, Barcelona controlled the match and sealed the win with a late goal from Fermin Lopez.

With two games to spare, Barcelona secured La Liga glory, completing a treble in a season marred by off-field turmoil, making the achievement even more remarkable.
