A football fan on social media has gone viral for his interesting account on his apparent interaction with former Roma boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday, March 8 for the Egypt Cup final between Zamalek and Al Ahly.

One Blues fan, identified as @Sirshargi, shared a photo on X, posing alongside the former Roma boss, but it was the caption that caught the eye of fans.

According to the fan, he briefly engaged Mourinho, asking him about a third and possibly final run as Chelsea manager.

“Hello Jose, Chelsea fans love you very much from all over the world and hope you return to Chelsea,” the fan claims to have told Jose, and The Special apparently replied saying:

“Thank you, my friend, but Chelsea is not the Chelsea we know.”

The fan then added “Yes Jose, so we want you to return to the team so that the glories can return. What if an offer was made to you in the summer, would you come?” before adding several emojis to suggest Mourinho only shrugged at his question.

Mourinho at Chelsea

After success as a young manager with Porto, Mourinho was appointed by Chelsea in 2004. He was an instant hit, delivering two Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, but was sacked in 2007, per Transfermarkt.

He had a second Chelsea stint in 2013 and won the Premier League for the third time with the club in 2015.

In the Premier League, the tactician has also had stints with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur but has never been able to replicate the Premier League success he enjoyed with the Blues.

Chelsea this season

Meanwhile, Chelsea have endured a tough campaign in 2023/24 under Mauricio Pochettino, with the club lying in 11th place on the log after 26 games.

Torrid performances in the league have led to speculation about Pochettino’s sacking, with Football 365 reporting that the Argentine’s potential dismissal depends on two factors including whether he can have a strong finish to the current season.
